One of my favorite things about Tourmaline is its wide range of colors! The word
Tourmaline comes from the Sinhalese word (Sri Lanka) Tourmali, which means “of many colors.”  Tourmaline can be “of many colors” including Blue, Pink, Black, Green, and many others!
Trying to choose a favorite color feels nearly impossible - I love them all! Not only does Tourmaline display a wide range of colors - it also offers calming, healing, and protective energies. Each color can represent different metaphysical or healing properties!
Blue Tourmaline, also known as Indicolite, gets its color from small iron impurities and is only found in a few places such as Brazil, Nigeria, and Afghanistan. Blue Tourmaline is considered a “spiritual” stone that is said to help release emotional baggage while enhancing communication and self-expression. It is also associated with the Throat and Third Eye Chakra due to its deep blue color!
Pink Tourmaline, also known as Rubellite, is found all over the world. The Himalaya Tourmaline Mine located in San Diego County, California is one of the largest Tourmaline mines in the world. Pink Tourmaline is considered a stone of love, compassion, emotional healing, and self love. It is also associated with the Heart Chakra.
Black Tourmaline, also known as Schorl, is largely found in Brazil. The Tourmaline Mine in Minas Gerais, Brazil is one of the most famous Tourmaline mines as it produces high quality stones known for their deep black color and clarity. Black Tourmaline is considered a powerful protection stone and is said to help absorb negative energy and promote grounding.
Green Tourmaline, also known as Verdelite, is mainly found in the United States, Mozambique, Afghanistan, and Brazil. Brazil is one of the largest producers of Tourmaline and is well-known for its Green Tourmaline deposits. Green Tourmaline is often associated with the Heart Chakra and is said to foster physical vitality and abundance.
Another well-known type of Tourmaline is Watermelon Tourmaline named for its unique pink center and green outer color resembling the colors of a Watermelon! Watermelon Tourmaline is also mined throughout the world including Brazil, Namibia, Nigeria, and Afghanistan. Like Black Tourmaline, Watermelon Tourmaline is mainly mined in the Tourmaline mine in Minas Gerais, Brazil. A unique property of Watermelon Tourmaline is its vivid color zoning, which exhibits different colors from the center to the outer edges. Watermelon Tourmaline is often associated with Heart Chakra as well and is said to help keep your Heart Chakra in balance! Watermelon Tourmaline is considered a stone of harmony and balance!
